Environmental Education

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Approach

In environmental education (EE) program and science discipline, grade five and grade seven students have achieved the following through Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Approach.

G5 students started reducing garbage by:

1.     using lunch boxes rather than using plastic bags

2.    holding a campaign to increase the awareness of the bad use of plastic bags

3.    using scrapes of paper and cardboards to decorate on Valentine’s Day and Teacher’s Day

G7 students researched about composting. They prepared the compost area and then started sorting greens and browns. Further work about composting will be reported during the science fair.

Having a rich, green natural field around the school enhances students’ learning, interests, and attitude towards their local environment. Therefore, new teaching methods like inquiry, experiments, projects, and discovery are implemented in order to develop students’ cognitive, physical, emotional, and social skills needed to learn about the environment, in the environment, and for the environment. The school vision is to be a green eco friendly school in three major domains: curriculum, management of resources, and management of school grounds.
