Implementing the ProtectED Program

Our school implements the ProtectED Program”

Almanar Modern School, represented by the Social Studies and Protect ED Coordinator, Sara Abilmona and the Social Studies and ProtectED teacher, participated in the conference “Empowering Students with Knowledge” held at the Four Seasons Hotel-Beirut to honor our school and other schools implementing the ProtectEd Program.

We are proud to be one of the pioneering schools in the region to successfully implement the ProtectEd Program which provides effective, preventive, and innovative safety education. We were also among 12 schools to participate in a study conducted by Nielsen and commissioned by BLOM Bank. The study was conducted with 1265 Grade 6 students from different social-economic backgrounds and religious backgrounds.

Based on this study, the program proved that students are interested in its topics and learned severely things regarding their safety and stopped talking to strangers online and that the program taught them to stand up to a bully.

Having a rich, green natural field around the school enhances students’ learning, interests, and attitude towards their local environment. Therefore, new teaching methods like inquiry, experiments, projects, and discovery are implemented in order to develop students’ cognitive, physical, emotional, and social skills needed to learn about the environment, in the environment, and for the environment. The school vision is to be a green eco friendly school in three major domains: curriculum, management of resources, and management of school grounds.
