Environmental Education

Never Waste the Waste

In the presence of the UNESCO-affiliated school coordinator in Lebanon, Ms. Christian Geitani, principals, teachers and students from various affiliated schools, and Mr. Nasr Makarem and his wife, the implementation of the global project “Preparedness for Climate Change” was presented by Ms. Sarah Abi Al-Menna, Ms. Janan Karama Shea and members Students Council.

The meeting started with a welcome speech from the school administration. The play included plays and songs performed by the kindergarten students and the elementary stage, as well as scientific projects for middle and high school students, and activities for the elementary and secondary stages and the art of recycling and reuse. Al-Manar Modern School was characterized by the effectiveness of the application of education on sustainable development. The coordinator, Jeitani, expressed her pride in her management, teachers and students and the achievements of Al-Manar in the field of education for climate change. We thank our talented student Haneen Abou El Hassan for filming the event.

Having a rich, green natural field around the school enhances students’ learning, interests, and attitude towards their local environment. Therefore, new teaching methods like inquiry, experiments, projects, and discovery are implemented in order to develop students’ cognitive, physical, emotional, and social skills needed to learn about the environment, in the environment, and for the environment. The school vision is to be a green eco friendly school in three major domains: curriculum, management of resources, and management of school grounds.
